Peppermint Avenue x Toms

On the 24th August 2017, I was privileged enough to be invited to Peppermint Avenue x TOMS exclusive event at Elysium Bar + Terrace. Peppermint Avenue is a Malaysian lifestyle label which values to embrace, celebrate and foster diversity amidst one another with a passionate ambition.

To celebrate Malaysia’s 60th Independence Day, Peppermint Avenue joined forces with TOMS, for a one-off collaboration event to raise funds for Viva Palestina Malaysia. Viva Palestina Malaysia is an NGO advocating justice, peace, freedom and self-determination for the war-ridden country, Palestine.

TOMS, well known around the world for their charitable One for One business model worked hand-in-hand with Peppermint Avenue to raise funds via a silent auction for exclusive collaboration pieces. Apart from that, holiday packages were also auctioned for the charitable cause.

Items auctioned include; a Peppermint Avenue Scarf valued at RM200, a Peppermint Avenue sleeveless silk dress valued at RM1500, an exclusive pair of TOMS shoes with customized Peppermint Avenue print hand painted by Zam Conteng Kasut valued at RM400, an exclusive hand painted MERDEKA pair of TOMS customized by Zam Conteng Kasut and one-night stay in a beachfront villa at the new resort, The Kasturi in Cherating worth RM1200 per night.

Brunch at the Antipodean

Complete your hectic weekday mornings or lazy Sundays with a delicious breakfast or brunch at Antipodean Cafe. With an amazing combination of delicious food and good coffee, kick-start your day in a great mood.

The cafe has a unique aesthetic of having their menu written on across their blackboard walls and having customers order by referring to the wall. It sure makes things more fun and interesting! With so many choices from breakfast platters to pastas and desserts, there’s something here for everyone.

My personal favourite is the ‘Big Breakfast’. Bacon for life! It’s a delicious plate of the juiciest bacon, sauteed mushrooms, scrambled eggs and some salad. Oh, and also their hashbrown which is absolutely to die for!

It’s all about the gravy, baby!

Had a great and spontaneous meal at Gravy Baby, Taman Desa today. It was a quiet Sunday night at the area, so parking wasn’t an issue. Great food, great service!

Personal favourite: Lamb Shepard’s Pie (with the meat gravy)

Alcohol : Yes

Pork : Pork -Free

Location : Gravy Baby, Jalan Desa Jaya, Taman Desa (Can be found on waze) ✌️
Mother ordered the Tomato Soup, came with warm bread, tasty af

All the pies, we tried the beef steak pie, ale pie (can’t remember the full name 😅 sorry) and Lamb Shepard’s Pie. You may choose to have your pie and gravy for RM20, or RM26 with a side of mash and beans/mashed peas (mash and mashed peas 👍👍👍)

Finishing up with a good cuppa of coffee and fresh waffles. We had the raspberry and lemon curd waffle + ice cream 🍦, needless to say, it won my heart as well.

9/10 will return here again 🍽

Gobo Chit Chat – Traders Hotel KL (Ramadan Buffet Review)

There is no second chance for a first impression. A calming and relaxing atmosphere accompanied by beautiful Gobo lights, Gobo Chit Chat at Traders Hotel definitely nailed their first impression, at least for me.

Greeted by their cheerful and lovely staff, I felt welcomed right away. As they highlighted their specialty dishes and themes for the coming Ramadan buffet, my mouth watered. From local delights to western fusion, they have it all.

Proceeding with the buffet, for my first plate I gathered some sashimi and sushi. I can’t say no to these two at any buffet. Verdict? The sashami was delicious and tasted so fresh, the fish felt like it just melted onto my taste buds. The sushi however was mediocre, as to whatever you can find at other buffets.

For the next few rounds, I indulged myself in their local delicacies including their “Kerabu Kaki Ayam”, “Ulam” and roast duck. There was so many to choose from I had to pace myself before losing tummy space for dessert. Despite my overall satisfaction, I had one let down which was the lamb. It was dry and almost tasteless, however, the Briyani that came with it was rich in flavour and overcame my disappointment for the lamb.
Must-try specialty this coming Ramadan:

Pengat Durian Pulut & Roti Benggali
At first I had some doubts as to tasting “Durian Soup”. However, it is a taste that grows on you! Who knew it was so good! It has a light taste, and not as sweet as you think it might be. Because of it’s light flavours, you can have a whole bowl without feeling “jelak”.

Coffee is life ☕️

I honestly can’t imagine what life would be like without any coffee. God forbid the world to end but if it does, make coffee last forever. I’m an addict, can’t deny it. I NEED my morning iced long blacks or double shot macchiato on a workday, or I am a zombie. I need a flat white on weekends because that’s “chill” for me. I can’t be a productive zombie because I probably can’t focus on eating humans without caffeine 😂

Kim Gary, Midvalley

I think this might come as a shocker because I’m not really a fan of Kim Gary despite it being a popular go-to spot. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I got a luncheon meat sandwich which was alright, but nothing to shout about. But the mango dessert was pretty bomb. Mangos for life. Loved that. Have never tried any other stuff because I rarely eat here. Anybody got any better suggestions as to what’s good there?

E&O Hotel and Residences, Part 2

Let’s start the day with a delicious breakfast at Delicious by E&O. If you get a suite which comes with a free breakfast, that is the place. And OMG, small restaurant with not much food choices but the quality and taste is superb. The residence itself has no cafes or restaurants but it’s connected to an outer section which has bars, classy restaurants, San Fransisco Coffee and Delicious by E&O. There’s a mall across the street as well to get some food. Calling McDonalds or other delivery services can also be arranged.

They also have a well equipped gym if you wanna catch a morning workout or a night one. Mr Z worked out until his body is still sore until now 😂 I love this place, I don’t mind living here in the future. Great environment and good service.

E&O Hotel and Residences, Part 1

This weekend, Mr Z decided to take us on a quick getaway at E&O (stands for Eastern and Oriental if I’m not mistaken). Got a good deal on booking.com, RM375 for a suite and breakfast, and on the same day we checked in. Check in time: 3pm. Very pretty surroundings, full of nature, sprouting everywhere. The swimming pool (will show pics on next post) is clean and there’s even a jacuzzi that faces the swimming pool which is just perfect. Food here is a little expensive though. If you want cheaper options you can go to The Weld, a small mall across the street. Sometimes they have a “Noon Market”, so you can get roadside food as well. Since it’s Ramadan, not that many food choices. Going for their breakfast buffet, can’t wait to taste their food.

Cheesy 🧀

Cheese tarts. Traditional or modern recipes, I will eat it. I love cheese. It’s like man’s best creation. How can anyone say no to cheese? Today I got theses blueberry cheese tarts from W Mart, a grocery / bakery shop across the street from my office. Gadddammnnn, so damn delicious. Gotta say, it’s one of the best that I’ve ever had. For only RM14 (RM13 plus or around that), you get a box of 6. Yumyumyum!

Waves of Love

Beach. Sand. Waves. Breeze. Open seas. That’s my kind of holiday. I love the beach. So, when my parents brought me to Avani Gold Coast Sepang I couldn’t be happier. It’s the nearest to KL (Where I stay) for a quick getaway. It’s not crowded, service is good, 10/10 I will go again. I love that you can cycle all over the place (cardio yo) because cars aren’t allowed on the premises. There’s golf carts provided to fetch you around if you don’t want to cycle so it’s good for older folks to relax as well. Super family friendly. Food is quite pricey but wouldn’t expect any less because it’s a 5 ⭐️ place. They have their own beach so no need to worry about sharing with the Bagan Lalang because their beach is quite dirty and if you have tattoos people there will sort of give you a look. Enjoy some pictures ~
